
Dante’s Inferno has a very poor cute factor. A crusader dude travels to hell to get his girl back, snaffles a giant scythe from Death, gets the Holy Cross from his beloved chick Beatrice and hacks and slays himself through myriads of rotten tomatoes, seducingly hot birds, vile polygon clusters, regurgitators and abominables. The bottomline is that Dante’s quest is not that horrible than Renaissance poet Dante Alighieri quotes in “Canto IV: First Circle” of his epic poem “The Divine Comedy”:
Dark, profound it was, and cloudy, so that though I fixed my sight on the bottom I did not discern anything there. […] I come into a region where is nothing that can give light.
