In its best moments Dark Void really is a kick ass game. Not on storytelling or cinematographic level, but on a small-scaled and humble gaming core. It feels almost oldschool, not very unlike the heavily underrated last year’s Bionic Commando. And yes, that’s why I love Capcom. It just feels right and good to play it. It makes it easy to have fun as you have the sublime and heroic feeling of doing something cool as soon as you take the controller in your hand (like skyjacking UFOs mid-flight which is like totally awesome). Even though it’s quite ambitious, with the surprisingly good score composed by Battlestar Galactica composer Bear McCreary and the possible feature film with or/and by Brad Pitt, but nonetheless Dark Void’s presentation is in overall – except for some rather stylish and flashy light effects – to bleak and the story is too loose tightened for any immersive feel. But hey, you can fly with a jetpack. We were promised them for years… and there we have it. Geronimo.
